The final
week before Christmas is over and done with. Thank God. It’s been a couple of
stressful weeks with long hours at the library, writing reports, essays and
reviews. But it’s also been a couple of really nice weeks! Sunday the Tae
Kwon-Do club had their Christmas dinner at _. It was super crowded! But we got
our food (which was delicious) and had a great evening. I had smoked salmon
(the first real salmon I’ve had since I left Norway), duck and my very first
Christmas pudding. The pudding is great; filled with dried fruits and with a
brandy sauce. Before desert, the board handed out diplomas! Rowan, Adam and
Holly became the students with the best attendance, Adam was the student who
had improved the most, and guess what! I got the prize for “student of the
semester”, and they’d bought me champagne! I bet I was blushing all the way
from my toes to my head!
The
champagne was shared after the last session on Thursday. It was raining
heavily, and we gathered underneath the staircase outside the Sports Centre.
Harriet had brought plastic cups, Alex popped the champagne (since I had no
idea how) and Ellie handed out chocolate coins. The champagne was delicious,
and even more so because it was drunk from plastic cups, with cheap chocolate
on the side, in heavy rain and shared among friends. It just made the whole
experience very memorable, and when we hugged each other goodbye, I could feel
the happy bubbles spread out in my whole body.
But it is so that time passes, one second at the time, and soon it was the 12’th, the last day of school and my 22’nd birthday. It was spent partially at the library, writing, and I had a quiet evening to myself in my room, with take away from Shilam (I just love their Nan bread so much) and chocolate that my mother had sent me. It might sound lonely, but it was exactly how I felt like celebrating. After all, I had to pack, clean out my room and the stress had gotten me rather tired. I got lots of messages, and my parents called to congratulate me. All in all, I had a rather nice and quiet day.

And that was much needed, because I had to get up super early today. Milla and I left with the Mega Bus at 06:45 to London. We arrived the city with a two hours delay, and especially Milla was really tired. We both had a restless night, but she has slept bad several days in a row, and getting coffee at Starbucks was much needed once we got to Kings Cross. We are staying at Click 78, a hostel not far from the station. The room is a girls only room with five bunk beds, right next to the toilets and showers. Right now it seems really nice, it is clean and the guy in the reception was super friendly. Tomorrow we’ll meet up with a friend of Milla’s, who’s arriving from Finland. At some point during the week, I’ll finally get to meet my online friend Tisa (remember kids, do not meet online friends without your parents permission), and I’ll probably see my cousin Lene at some point too, as she is on her way to Liverpool, where she studies.
Await
updates!
